With the 18th Annual Tribeca Film Festival now here, the 2019 festival jury was announced last week on April 16th.
The jurors for the feature film competitions are as follows. For the U.S. Narrative Feature Competition, the jury will be comprised of Jonathon Ames (creator, Bored to Death, Blunt Talk), Cory Hardrict (actor, The Oath), Dana Harris (editor-in-chief, IndieWire), and Jenny Lumet (author, Rachel Getting Married). For the International Narrative Feature Competition, the jurors will be Angela Bassett (actress, Black Panther), Famke Janssen (actress, How to Get Away with Murder, Hemlock Grove, X-Men franchise), Baltasar Kormakur (director, The Deep, Everest, Adrift), Rebecca Miller (writer-director, The Ballad of Jack and Rose, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee), and Steve Zaillian (writer, Schindler's List, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo). Drake Doremus (Like Crazy), Robert Greene (Kate Plays Christine), Julie Goldman (producer of the opening night film The Apollo), Andrew LaVallee (editor and reporter, The Wall Street Journal), and Cheryl McDonough (Bean, America Inside Out) are the jurors for this year's Documentary Feature Competition.
For directors of feature-films, both narrative and documentary, the jurors are as follows. Stephen Kay (Friday Night Lights, Sons of Anarchy, Quantico), Bill Keith (deputy editor, Entertainment Weekly), Justin Long (Frank and Lola, GIRI/HAJI), Piper Perabo (Turn Up Charlie), and Mélita Toscan du Plantier (In the Fade) make up the jury for the Best New Narrative Director competition. For Best New Documentary Director, the jurors include Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Wire, To Kill a Mockingbird), David Cross (actor, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Orlando von Einsiedel (director, Skateistan: To Live, Skate Kabul, The White Helmets), Kathrine Narducci (actress, The Sopranos), and Tig Notaro (actress, Star Trek: Discovery; writer, First Ladies).
Maureen Dowd (author, The Year of Voting Dangerously), Topher Grace (Blackkklansman, Interstellar), Rosalind "Roz" Lichter (entertainment lawyer), Hamish Linklater (Legion, Tell Me Your Secrets), Lily Rabe (Vice, American Horror Story, Tell Me Your Secrets), Phoebe Robinson (co-creator/co-star, 2 Dope Queens), Jeff Scher (animator) will be the jurors for the Narrative Short competition. The jurors for the Short Documentary and Student Visionary Competitions include Dr. Kevin Cahill (Chief Advisor on Humanitarian Affairs for three Presidents of the United Nations General Assembly), David Krumholtz (The Deuce, Numb3rs), Kathy Najimy (Gloria: A Life, The Secret Club), Sheila Nevins (former President of HBO Documentary Films), Agunda Okeyo (former Director of Women's March NYC), Aaron Rodgers (former Super Bowl MVP), and Buster Scher (founder, HoopsNation).
